Lost in The Multiplex

Con Air Writer Pains & Gains New Gig On Michael Bay Movie

Scott Rosenberg

Scott Rosenberg, the man behind the screenplays for High Fidelity and Con Air, has been called up for polishing duties on the script for Pain & Gain, Michael Bay's dark-comedy action thriller.

Based on a true story, Pain & Gain follows two bodybuilders, played by Dwayne Johnson and Mark Wahlberg, who lead an extortion and kidnapping ring that goes horribly wrong.

At $35 million, it's a relatively small-scale project for Michael 'Needs More Explosions' Bay, especially when you consider that the Transformers movies each had budgets of $200 million. Hopefully though this film will be better than those with Rosenberg's influence.

Part of the team behind films like Con Air and Gone in 60 Seconds, it could mean we get more classic lines like "Put the bunny back in the box". Then again, Rosenberg was also responsible for the Animal Crackers seen in Armageddon. So, it could go either way.

Also starring Ed Harris, Tony Shaloub, Anthony Mackie and Bar Paly, the film is slated for release in 2013.
