From the master of photography who brought us Chronos and Baraka, the first teaser trailer for Ron Fricke’s Samsara has been released and once again promises on-screen poetry of the purest kind.

Reuniting Fricke with producer Mark Magidson, Samsara develops the themes of interconnection and transcendence, illuminating links between humanity and the rest of nature and showing how our life cycle mirrors the rhythms of the planet. Not everyone’s cup of tea, then, but an absolute must-see for the high-def junkies and those seeking the often promised but rarely delivered ‘cinematic experience’.

Shot entirely on stunning 70mm film, Samsara spans across 25 countries and explores the varied worlds of sacred grounds, disaster zones, industrial complexes, and natural wonders. Dispensing with dialogue and descriptive text, Samsara relies solely on the beauty of the image and guarantees to deliver a film of exceptional quality. Terrence Malick, eat your heart out!

Samsara is set to be screened in 4K digital projection across the UK from August 31st.

After graduating in 2010, Steph worked as an intern at Raindance (Brussels) and Rise Films, and, predictably, had a job working at a dingy DVD rental store. She also volunteered at various film festivals, enjoying all sorts of filmy goodness ranging from the excitement and glamour of the red carpet to anarchic, toilet-paper laden horror all-nighters. She is currently a working in TV production and admits she spends an unhealthy amount of her free time watching and writing about films.
