Jaffa and Silver also wrote a first draft for the sequel to Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes (recently titled Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes), but have now passed script duties to Scott Z Burns to work towards the film’s 2014 release.
Jurassic Park 4 has been in the works since 2002 and was initially set for a 2005 release, but various script issues and changes of director led to the film languishing in development hell until now. In January, Steven Spielberg confirmed that he would not be directing the film, but would still be part of the project in a producing capacity.
Hopefully Jaffa and Silver can bring the intense creature characterisation that made ROTPOTA so good to Jurassic Park 4. They have set the high watermark for a franchise reboot and now their latest script must meet that high standard, otherwise we’ll be wishing them down a Velociraptor’s throat.
