Mortensen, should he accept, will take the role of Henry Clemens, the lead part in the film and will possibly star alongside Ben Kingsley and Noomi Rapace who are both already attached. Kingsley is set to play the ill-fated ship's captain, but it is uncertain what role Rapace is lined up to take.
The Last Voyage of the Demeter is based on a small part of Bram Stoker's Dracula, where the ship's log details the murder of the entire crew from an unknown assailant on its voyage from Transylvania to Whitby. It's the creepiest part of the novel and will no doubt provide the film with a decent amount of fog-bound, vampiric scares.
There's still no word on a start date for the production but if this latest news is anything to go by, it can't be long now.
