Is this good news?
Yes, yes and yes.
The film's hilarious and features fabulous performances from the whole cast. If you haven’t seen it, you really must - even if it is just to see Matthew McConaughey's grand larceny (he steals every scene he's in).
Hopefully Steven Soderbergh will return to direct with the rest of the cast - and that includes Alex Pettyfer and Matt Bomer. If there is to be a sequel, it will only be as enjoyable if the same team work on it and create a film with just as much charm as laughs.
Tatum is a busy man and the main question is probably whether he has the time to shake his moneymaker again. He's currently working with Soderbergh on The Bitter Pill, where he will be teaming up with Catherine Zeta-Jones, Jude Law and Rooney Mara. In addition to this, he's producing and starring in the Evel Knievel biopic and playing the part of The Duke in G.I Joe: Retaliation which is due for release in 2013.
But there are 91 million reasons why he'll find the time. For a film with a mere $7 million budget, Magic Mike has already grossed over $91 million.
That'll help get another outing greenlit, and ensure there is a space in his diary.
